From those early massive recording devices and wax cylinders through shellac, vinyl, cd, mp3, it seems to becoming lighter and lighter. Does Nick Drakes' 'Pink Moon' on vinyl mean the same as a folder of mp3s on my iPod? Does digital distribution undermine art? Is illegal downloading bad?
No idea but I am glad we got into this whilst the physical artefact was still the thing - just. I had a meeting with a musician who consults on social media once (it wasn't my idea).
