Sounds like they sent you the wrong thing..img files are maps. Now the maps might contain some POI's already, but that would be an odd way to distribute the info you describe.
Fsx Orbit Airlines A321 Google here. AFAIK GPSBabel is a program to convert tracks, waypoints, etc and not maps. Why not contact the vendor you bought this thing from? Sure sounds like you didn't get what you paid for. Have you tried installing it like a map on your GPS to see what happens? Have you installed any other maps on your GPS other than the preinstalled ones? If not, rename the file gmapsupp.img and drop it into the Garmin folder on your GPS. If it's a map you can enable it with Menu >Tools >Settings >Map >Map Info.
If you have already installed another map then be careful as you may end up erasing it. I got it over a year ago and since I can't remember what I had for breakfast all I can offer is this: as a jumping off point.:) After looking a little I think this is what you bought: Stonemaps The StoneMaps Florida '7-Park' GPS map contains seven of Florida's finest premier resorts: * Walt Disney World Orlando o Epcot o Animal Kingdom o Magic Kingdom o MGM Studios * Universal's Islands of Adventure * Universal Studios * Sea World It appears that it replaces the basemap on your gps. It sounds pretty good and better than a Tour Guide. Here is some info on installing it. Can I install more than one map on the same SD Card - such as my Garmin City Navigator card? If you have Garmin's Mapsource software, you can combine multiple maps (StoneMaps or other maps) into one mapset which can be stored on a single SD Card (or into internal memory on many GPS units).
I have a GPI file on my Garmin 510 and would like to convert it to a CSV file in excel on my laptop to enable me to add to it. Does anyone know how to d. I have successfully figured out how to convert FIT files (produced by a Garmin Forerunner 620 watch) to CSV by using the ANT SDK.
For the most part, only one mapset can be stored per SD Card (or into internal memory). NEVER ATTEMPT TO INSTALL supplemental maps onto a SD Card that contains an existing commercial map - such as the Garmin City Navigator SD Card. Doing so will almost certainly delete the existing map and Garmin's policy is not to replace data that you unintentionally delete. Instead, use a blank SD Card.
I would get a blank SD card and get MapSource and the install should go pretty easily. If it is already an img file, try putting it as a file called gmapsupp.img in a Garmin folder on SD ( Garmin gmapsupp. Program Division 8085. img) and see if it shows up in Map Info. You may need to uncheck City Nav NT to see that map displayed (unless it is a transparent overlay map). Not sure what other files on SD might interfere, but when I had a Garmin GPX folder on SD, maps in Garmin gmapsupp.img did not show up in MapInfo. At the time I was experimenting with waypoint Send to GPS from Google Maps (to send to the SD in card reader without nuvi connected), and that worked (when nuvi booted with card inserted), but that stepped on maps until GPX folder was removed from SD. If that does not work, maybe it is a disk image (iso) to burn to CD. Although, I would think such a file would have an iso file extension to avoid confusion with map img files.
I seriously doubt anyone would want amusement parks only as a basemap (gmapbmap.img) because that is a basic map of the continent(s) and major highways in main memory if no other maps are selected. Stone Maps do NOT modify the basemap. The map is installed as a supplemental map (GMAPSUPP.IMG) or can be combined with other maps that you have installed in MapSource and sent to the GPS within that mapset. When installed, the map is available and accessible using MapSource. When installed as a supplemental map by adding it directly to the unit, it sits on top of both the basemap and the detailed map and is not transparent.
